Hello and welcome!

Hi, hi! Welcome~ This is my humble page on ramblings, reviews, and random posts on games I play along with anything else that comes to mind. My main focus on this account will be otome games, but I'll probably be occasionally fangirling about other games like Resident Evil or some random anime series. Many apologies for it in advance!

I'm also on the following social media accounts:

Nightshade / Hyakka Hyakuro Review (Nintendo Switch)

    Nightshade

  • Japanese Title: 百花百狼 ~戦国忍法帖~ (Hyakka Hyakuro ~Sengoku Ninpou chou~)
  • Available System(s): PSVita, PC/Steam, Nintendo Switch
  • Maker/Publishing Company: Red Entertainment, D3P (Otomebu)
  • Translation Available: Yes!
  • Release Date(s): Japan (Switch) - 20th December 2018
  • Info: If you want a hard copy of the game, you must import it from Japan. English translation included in the hard copy of the game! Available also on Nintendo's e-shop worldwide. Includes violence, death, blood, and suicide.
  • Home Page: Nightshade

Storyline: The story takes places during the Sengoku era where Hideyoshi Totoyomi rules over a peaceful, unified Japan. Enju Ueno is the daughter of Kando Ueno, the leader of the Koga shinobis, and Kagari, who was the sister of the late leader of the now extinct Iga clan. She spends most of her days quietly being sheltered within the Kouga village and hones her skills to be a ninja, hoping she can be useful to the Kouga village. When she is assigned a mission to go to Kyou, the capital of Japan, she gets more than she bargained for and becomes entangled in a complex web of politics, violence, and dark secrets. It is then she must fight for her life, figuring out what future she must fight for.

Do you like tragedy, suffering, ninjas, and romance? If you do, then this is the game for you! Originally released for the PSVita in 2016, and later rereleased on the PC in 2017 and for the Nintendo Switch in 2018, this game is rooted in Japanese history but not as much as the popular game, Hakuouki. So, no need to worry too much about historical context for this one.

    This game has been a long time coming. I saw this one available on the Switch for quite some time. I spotted it since last year (2019), but I did not pick it up until a friend of mine started playing the game. She raved about how good it was, so I played it out of curiosity. And then, I could not put down the game and finished it within a week. Unfortunately, the review somehow took a little longer to get out there ^^;

For most reviews, I tend to write it in the order I played the routes in, but I’m doing things a little differently for this game. I will start from what I think is from least spoilerly to the most spoilerly. I will still try my best to avoid mentioning any specific-related plot/spoiler points.

As always, this review contains my opinions only and no one else’s. So, please take it with a grain of salt ~^^~

Why did it have to be you? )

    ~Otome Games Review List~

After thinking it over, I've decided to put the review list in a new entry, so it doesn't get lost among the crazy long list of otome games in my other post. If you want to check out what games I am currently (or will be) playing, then head over to this post: ~Otome Games List~. This post includes more information about the games.

For convenience, I've listed the ones I've written reviews for in alphabetical order. This does not include any reviews that only partially talk about the game or any games that I have not yet finished. All finished games have reviews in the works, so please rest assured! They're coming along asap.

I have posted some very old reviews I wrote ages ago, but it comes from wordpress, so the format may be a bit strange. Many apologies in advance for it!

If you have any comments, questions, or just want to talk, then drop me a line here on DW or on my Twitter/Instagram! I'd love to hear you from you ^^

If one wishes to acquaint themselves with beautiful matters concerning the heart, then they need look no further than otome. )

Collar X Malice Review (Nintendo Switch)

    Collar X Malice

  • Japanese Title: N/A
  • Available System(s): PSVita, Nintendo Switch
  • Maker/Publishing Company: Idea Factory, Design Factory, Otomate
  • Translation Available: Yes!
  • Release Date(s): Worldwide - 25th June 2020, Japan (Switch) - 12th March 2020.
  • Info: Previously released on the PSVita.
  • Home Page: Collar X Malice

  • Storyline: Set in Shinjuku, Tokyo, the city finds itself in a lockdown due a series of murders and events perpetuated by a terrorist organization called Adonis. Adonis claims a huge event will take place on the 1st of January in the following new year. This proclamation has the police department racing against time to find and stop Adonis. Ichika Hoshino, a rookie police officer, finds herself involved when she is tagged by Adonis with a deadly poisonous collar around her neck. In return, she becomes involved with the Adonis investigation, meeting five unlikely people who will forever change her life.

A friend of mine who looked at the game’s story told me to check it out, and I’m sad that I didn’t get into this game earlier! I had such a great time playing this game, and I can see why many people praise this as a phenomenal otome game in the same league as that of Hakuouki and Code Realize.

As always, this review contains my opinions about the game and doesn’t reflect anyone else’s. So, please take it with a grain of salt ~^^~

Anyways, you're not my type of women! )

    Voice Actors List

As I was compiling data on otome games, I've noticed many of the same voice actors who appear time and again in the many different otome games. I think it's always interesting to compare which characters these guys have voiced before, so I started to make a list for fun.

This is for my own amusement and records, and, as such, this is not an exhaustive list. The works listed below each voice actor is either what I am familiar with or have played/watched at some point. This does not, in any way, represent all of the works each of these amazing voice actors have done.

This post is a constant work in progress, so nothing here is fully one hundred percent complete, as stated above.

Note: I've also listed it in alphabetical order by their first names. Some titles are in romanji for easier reading.

Please do not think of me only as a friend. I want you to see me as a man. A man who loves you. )

    ~Otome Games List~

Gaming has always been a huge passion of mine! I've been playing it for as long as I can remember. I believe my first exposure to it was on the very original GameBoy, which featured pixelated games like Mario and Tetris. And from then, I've been sucked into the world of gaming.

As for otome games, I got into it when a friend of mine introduced Hakuouki to me. After playing it on the PSP, I was forever hooked to otome games and all of its crazy tropes, scenarios, beautiful art, wonderful music, handsome 2D guys, unforgettable voice actors, and juicy insanity contained within these games.

This post contains a list of mainly otome and visual novel games that I have played, plan to play, and whatnot.

As for the titles, especially for those written in Kanji, I have transliterated most of it into romanji myself, so I deeply apologize in advance for any stupid mistakes, lol. All info listed is also what I could look up or find. If there's any mistakes or missing info, then please let me know! I'm always happy to learn new stuff about these lovely otome games~ <3

Lastly, but not least, if you have any questions, comments, or thoughts, then leave a comment on DW or drop me a line on Twitter or Instagram!

Note: I'm a student still in school, so finishing the games will take a bit longer. But rest assured, I'm working my way through these ASAP ^^

My mind couldn't forget about you ever since that moment when I called out your name while you were wearing that red dress. )

Note: Just like with my Dramatical Murder review, this review is old and not updated, so certain aspects might be outdated. It also does NOT contain any updated thoughts on the game/routes itself. Unfortunately, I don't think I originally finished the game, so I believe it's only two of the routes. I do have plans to replay it in the future. For now, though, this is what I've written on it.

    Onward to the review!

    Routes/Paths for Dramatical murder re:code

NOTE: Just to make a quick note, this review was written more than five years ago, so it's not my most recent thoughts and outdated in certain parts (I will mark it as such in the review). I also haven't replayed the game in quite a long time, so this post does not contain any updated thoughts. As always, please take everything I say with a grain of salt as these are my opinions only and no one else's.

For those who are still interested in playing this game, there is an amazing walkthrough (which didn't exist when I first played it - something I mentioned in this review, thus making this fact outdated). I believe they also provide translations on the game, so check it out if it tickles your fancy!
